"those who do not learn from the past
are condemned to repeat it..."

in Circles 2017

work in continuous progress, started in 1996

the first public performance of In Circles on October 18th, 1997 at Eden's Expressway in New York City
marked the beginning of Reàl Dance Company under this name: in an open score the dancer(s) explore(s) repetition of movements, in relation to personal life, creating ever changing and intersecting circles ...

since this first presentation, the dance has been performed as a signature work of Thomas Körtvélyessy
among others in Rotterdam 1998 and Arnhem 2004

for the 20-year anniversary of the Company, the work is now being revisited:
  • what are insights and new perspectives, after 20 years of work and development?
  • how does the dance work together with Canto Ostinato by Dutch minimalist composer Simeon ten Holt? *
  • how can this piece be translated to a Dutch audience in Rotterdam, in 2017?
more thoughts about the revisiting process can be read on the choreography-blog
ujtáncgondolatok (new dance thoughts)

the resulting performance will be presented on October 22nd, 2017, at 16.00h (CET)
at Dansateliers Rotterdam and via live-stream - check here to find the exact time & date in your own time zone
